Next to the seafront in the city center is Puke Ariki - the world's first fully integrated museum, library and information center. It can also be described as subtropical. Tauranga is one of New Zealand's leading centers for business, international trade, culture, fashion and horticulture. The main parks are the 52 hectare Pukekura Park in the city center (dubbed a garden of national importance) and Pukeiti, a rhododendron garden of high international importance in the Pouakai range. The Port of Tauranga is New Zealand's largest port in terms of total export tonnage and efficiency. It was settled by the Maori in the late 13th century, settled by Europeans in the early 19th century, and incorporated as a town in 1963.
